Lorena Miranda - #MYNSMHSTORY

Get to know our Chapter Treasurer, Lorena, in this installment of #MYNSMHSTORY!

Emphasis: Meetings and Events

Hometown: San Diego, Ca

Expected Graduation: May 2018

Who or what inspired you to get involved with NSMH?

I was somewhat involved with NSMH my freshman year, but then took a long hiatus until my junior year. My junior year I decided to attend the National conference because I realized my opportunities with NSMH would be coming to a close a year later and I wanted to get the most out of NSMH as I could. Needless to say, it was one of the best decisions of my college career!

What is the best memory you have that involves NSMH?

National Conference 2017 when all of us hung out in 1 hotel room and were dancing and getting to know each other.

What opportunities have you gained through NSMH?

Professional Development, Interviews, Networking skills, and my current position as Treasurer for the 2017-2018 Executive Board!

What's the best piece of advice you could give anyone?

Get involved as soon as possible. I sincerely regret taking that long hiatus because I know how many more opportunities and experiences I would've been able have if I didn't.

What are you going to contribute to the org as a board member this year?

As treasurer I am in charge of the finances of our chapter as well as oversee the Fundraising Directors and High school Outreach director.

What does NSMH mean to you?

Receiving opportunities in the hospitality industry and maintaining relationships with business professionals, and other students to help aid my professional career. I also have met some of my best friends through this organization and I couldn't be more thankful for that!
