Danielle Dela Paz - #MYNSMHSTORY

Meet Danielle, one of our Co-Planning Directors for this school year!

Emphasis: Meetings & Events

Hometown: San Diego, CA

Expected Graduation: May 2020

Who or what inspired you to get involved with NSMH?

I was inspired to get involved with NSMH after attending the 2017 National Conference in Jacksonville, FL. I met a lot of amazing people who became my friends and learned a lot about the industry. I learned that NSMH is an organization that truly cares about the potential of its members.

What is the best memory you have that involves NSMH? (Funny moments, inspiring moment, etc)

My best memory would have to be the national conference. The whole weekend was amazing, as I got to know a lot of the students. As a freshman, I was overwhelmed and had no idea what to expect out of the trip, but it turned out to be one of the highlights of my freshman year.

What opportunities have you gained through NSMH?

I have been able to network a lot with industry professionals, which led me to become more confident in interviews as well as talking with recruiters. During the summer of my sophomore year, I had an internship as a Front Office Agent at Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa. Although the opportunity did not come directly from NSMH, I would not have been able to get the internship without the skills that I have learned from NSMH.

What's the best piece of advice you could give anyone?

Get involved! Getting involved is the best way to get the most out of your experience. When I attended the national conference, seeing all of the juniors and seniors who attended inspired me to become like them. It has inspired me to challenge myself and start finding my niche in the industry. Getting involved is also how you meet the best people ever.

What are you going to contribute to the org as a board member this year?

As one of the planning directors, I want to plan events that will encourage students to join the organization. I also want to advocate NSMH's mission and vision through our events.

What does NSMH mean to you?

Developing your professional self and advancing your career path.
